A few interesting bits about Old Harlow.

Old Harlow was just plain Harlow before the Harlow New Town was built and just as the name says has a lot of the oldest buildings, pubs and roads in the Harlow area.

One of my favourite areas is Harlowbury which is what is left of the Harlowbury Manor and Estate.   There is a wonderful historic chapel in the grounds and lovely dog walks on the protected green around it.
You can walk from here across the footpaths to The Gibberd gardens which is the home and grounds of Mr Gibberd who designed Harlow New Town.
The Gibberd Gardens are wonderful to look round as they contain an amazing amount of specialist sculptures.
One of the children’s favourite games is to get one of the ‘sculpture guides’ at the entrance and track them all down –  sometimes we’re not allowed to leave until they’re all found!
Check opening times as they only open at certain times.

Mulberry green has some beautiful old buildings including the Green Man Hotel which is great for a good meal or just to sit and have a coffee.

There are lots of footpaths to discover and of course the river that winds it’s way through the area.

It’s lovely to deliver the flowers all around Old Harlow as we’re always discovering little houses and indeed churches tucked away as well.
